To achieve the Competent Toastmasters (CTM)
award you must complete all ten speeches within the Communication and
Leadership Program manual (also known as the “CTM manual”). Every new member will receive this manual
from the Club at his/her induction upon completing the Membership Application
form and paying the joining and membership fees. This manual helps members develop the
basic skills needed to prepare and present an effective speech. Speeches are
best given in project sequence because each builds on skills learnt in
previous speeches. Members should try to meet the objectives
of the speech project within the time limits for that speech. Members receive oral and written
evaluations for each project and are awarded their CTM award on completion of
the tenth speech. There is no time limit for completing the
manual. Speeches are scheduled by the
Vice President Education at the frequency requested by the member, within the
time constraints of scheduled meetings. |
